The Glass Ceiling Effect Stand Between Men And Women...
The literature review presented in Chapter 2 of this study discusses the issues associated with the ââ¬Å"glass ceilingâ⬠phenomena by explaining why there are smaller proportion of women leaders in business and project management using the case of Transport for London. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study is to ascertain whether women employees in TfL experience the ââ¬Å"glass ceilingâ⬠effect. As a result, the study is designed to focus on the positive experiences and approaches that contribute to and influence the success of women in senior level administration positions instead of focusing on the barriers to such. Research Questions The following question will guide the study: How does the glass ceiling effect stand between men and women employees, especially those in senior level management within project management in UK transport infrastructure projects and other industries? The question is further sub-divided to provide a concrete answer to the overarching question; this includes an analysis of how women in senior level administrative positions in the transport industry describe and perceive the glass ceiling experience, the characteristics of the women in such senior level administrative positions that are crucial in breaking the glass ceiling. Moreover, the study will also ascertain the tools and resources necessary for women in the transport infrastructure projects to advance to the senior level administrative jobs.
